George England, Guitarist

George England began studying classical guitar in 1998 with Sacramento guitarist Brandon Yip and completed the Bachelor of Music degree studying with Drs. Steven Thachuk and Ronald Purcell at California State University, Northridge in 2007. He is currently completing the Master of Music degree at CSU Sacramento under the direction of Dr. Richard Savino and Gyan Riley.

Most recently, George has performed as a featured soloist at the Elk Grove Fine Arts Festival and for the Sacramento Guitar Society and has performed in the baroque ensemble, Camerata Capistrano at CSU Sacramento on lute.In 2008 he was a finalist in the Sierra Nevada International Solo Guitar Competition and in 2007 he was awarded 1st prize at the Festival of New American Music Student Performers Competition at CSU Sacramento. In 2005 the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet invited Mr. England to play in the master class at  the Grammy Pro-Sessions in Beverly Hills. George has been awarded a Fender Instruments Grant to spend a short stint studying jazz at the Berklee School of Music in Boston as well as the
Andrés
Segovia Memorial Endowment at CSU Northridge to continue his studies of guitar performance and education for the 2004/2005 academic year.

George has taught individuals and lead ensembles in various settings and has recently lead the guitar ensembles and repertoire classes at CSU Sacramento as the guitar area graduate teaching assistant. Currently, George is on staff at the Sacramento School of Music, the Young Artists Conservatory of Music in Vacaville, the Young Talents School of Music in Carmichael, and as the guitar instructor for the after school enrichment program at David Lubin Elementary School in East Sacramento.
