GEORGE ENGLAND 
 

George England graduated Cum Laude from California State University at Northridge in 2007 and went on to receive the Master of Music at CSU Sacramento. His major teachers have included Brandon Yip, Drs. Steve Thachuk, Ronald Purcell, Richard Savino and guitarist/composer, Gyan Riley. 

Most recently, George has performed as featured soloist at the Elk Grove Fine Arts Festival,  Sacramento Bach Festiva, ABC's morning show, Sacramento & Co.,  and has performed in the baroque ensemble, Camerata Capistrano. In 2008 he was a finalist in the Sierra Nevada International Solo Guitar Competition and in 2007 he was awarded 1st prize at the Festival of New American Music Performer's Competition at CSU Sacramento. He has performed in the master classes of Huber Kappel, Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, Angel Romero, David Tanenbaum, Marcin Dylla and Adam del Monte. 


This spring George will be recording Astor Piazzolla's
Histoire du Tango and a collection of Brazilian dance music with flutist Dr. Cathie Apple of Citywater. In addition, the Becker/England guitar duo will be finalizing transcriptions and recordings of keyboard sonatas by Dominico Scarlatti. 

George teaches privately in Sacramento as the owner of the Sacramento Guitar Institute, in Davis at the Music Stream Center,   and as an adjunct instructor at Yuba College in Marysville.
