GUITAR & LUTE
GEORGE BENTON ENGLAND
This live recording of the "Sarabande" from J.S. Bach's Sixth Suite for Solo Cello was made in Sacramento, California at Living Sound Studios in 2012. The photography features some work by Dan Lindow, as well as some of my own.
Christopher Kovarik was gracious to write a piece for my trio, Third Person Narrative. This short clip features one of the nine movements of Dr. Kovarik's larger work, which is entitled, The Inherantly Mutable Nature of Frivolity and Wonderment: a Fable. I am joined here by cellist Allisone Rowe and clarinetist David Gazaille.
Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco has a great number of works for guitar. Here, in a performance by Duo Raccontare, Dr. Kathleen O'Rourke and I perform "La Primavera" from Castelnuovo-Tedesco's setting of Platero y Yo by Juan Ramón Jiménez. Recorded live in 2016 at Stony Brook University Wang Center Chapel.
Here I am seen and heard performing the famous Lágrima, by nineteenth century composer and guitarist, Francisco Tárrega. This beautiful instrument built by Enrico Bottelli has a wonderful response and side timbral palette. Recorded live in 2017 at Savage Classical Guitars in Long Island, New York.
